Northeastern State University has named Kyle Williams to be the next head baseball coach to lead the Riverhawks program. Williams spent the past six seasons as head coach at Cameron University, a Division II program in Lawton. He served as an assistant coach at Cameron in 2019 before being promoted, helping guide the program to its first postseason appearance since 2011. Williams coached 14 All-Lone State Conference selections and had a player earn National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association National Hitter of the Week honors to open the 2025 season.
Before Cameron, Williams spent six years as assistant baseball coach and recruiting coordinator at Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri. During his time there, the program won 262 games, earned its first No. 1 national ranking in 2013, and captured Region XVI championships in 2014 and 2017. In 2017, Crowder made a trip to the NJCAA World Series.
Ryan Williams on the opportunity to lead the Riverhawks:
"I couldn't be more excited about the opportunity to lead the NSU baseball program. Having seen the success this program has had from afar, I knew I'd be lucky to get the chance to be a part of it."
"I can't thank John Sisemore and Dr. Rodney Hanley enough for this opportunity. To both of them, as well as the rest of the NSU supporters, I can't wait to get to work building a program full of high-quality individuals in the classroom, community, and on the baseball field. We'll see you at Rousey Field!"
NSU Athletic Director John Sisemore on what went into the decision to hire Williams:
"I've had the privilege of knowing Coach Williams and his family for several years now. I was fortunate to be the athletic director when he was an assistant at Crowder College and a vital part of building one of the winningest baseball programs in the country."
"Coach Williams has developed players who've gone on to be drafted, and he has strong ties to MLB scouts. He's also built great relationships with local travel organizations and high school programs across Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas. His relentless work ethic—from field maintenance to recruiting and development—is exactly what NSU is looking for."
